Case Study in Technical Product Usability

Problem:
An web developer in the publishing business had created a secondary product for mass marketing.  This product was to reach entry level technology users who could create a website and not be encumbered by website hosting and html issues.  The company had thousands of daily website visitors, but few customers for their new product line.

Solution:
Key staff professionals were initially brought in to consult in a tactical area.  A  preliminary software review indicated intrinsic issues with how users were interacting with the technology.

A competitive e-strategy analysis was developed to determine how a key leading competitor in a similar case could provide product usability information, while positioning the client product more favorably.  A usability evaluation was also performed, taking into account the psychographics of the desired target market, to develop recommendations for leveraging the technology while making improvements in usability.
